    Description

For sale, a mid 1960's "early Elkhart" vintage Vincent Bach Corp 3C professional trumpet mouthpiece in gold plate with scarce 28 throat and original factory box!
    Very clean
overall with only the most minor of surface imperfections and signs of use that do not affect performance.
Vintage Bach mouthpieces are highly prized amongst players and collectors alike for their unique performance and tonal qualities.
These pieces, sold in the first years of the new Bach plant in Elkhart, Indiana, are known to have been made using many of the same raw materials, blanks, tools, and craftsmen from the previous factory in Mt. Vernon, NY. M
any "early Elkhart", or "no dot" pieces were at various stages of production when the move began, starting their lives in the New York factory only to be later finished, stamped, or distributed in Indiana.
When the company was facing increased demand, production, and catering to a wider audience of players under Selmer leadership in the late 60's and early 70's, design and production techniques changed to meet those needs, erasing the playing characteristics that remained from the Mt. Vernon era.
When dealing with vintage Bach equipment, it is important to understand each mouthpiece should be approached as a one-off, as they vary widely in their exact cup size/shape and rim size/contour.
Unlike today's computer controlled lathes that laser measure and repeatedly cut to a high degree of accuracy,
    these are one-of-a-kind, hand-honed pieces,
    and
no two will measure, feel, or sound the same. However, despite this reputation for inconsistency in dimensions, pieces from this period are famously resonant and high quality. They were personally made by some of the most experienced craftsman in the industry and have the famous "Bach sound", which became the defining timbre of the modern trumpet in the 20th century. This led Bach to a world-wide and decades long market dominance for professional grade piston trumpets
that, while diminished due to modern competitors, still remains to this day.
