WHAT IS SOFT EATING LIQUORICE?

1. The liquorice plant has the botanical name, Glycyrrhiza, which means sweet root. It is a uniquely flavorful herb that is 50 times sweeter than sugar.
2. Also known as the blue flowering snow pea, the liquorice plant likes its surroundings hot. It is native to southern European countries like Spain and Italy, and parts of central Asia and the Middle East, including Israel.
3. Liquorice root is a flavorful ingredient found in a variety of products from beverages like soft drinks, liquor and tea, to soup broths, herbs and spices. The use of liquorice as an ingredient in candy is, of course, one with which most of us are familiar!
