    RARE MAURICE BENTERFA OLIVE WOOD 3C TRUMPET MOUTHPIECE WITH SILVER PLATED BRASS SHANK IN PRISTINE CONDITION
    I have been playing horns for 65 years...collecting and restoring vintage trumpets and cornets, producing custom finishes, and building custom horns for 54 years. Over the decades I amassed vast trumpet/ cornet/ mouthpiece collections.  During the past few years I have thinned out the herds and continue to do so.

    For your consideration, here is a pristine example of a rare Maurice Benterfa wood cup mouthpiece.  Mr. Benterfa
    was
    principal trumpet of
    the “Rhône Alpes” Philharmonic Orchestra, the Lyon Opera and teacher at the Lyon Conservatoire National de Région.  He has also written books about embouchure enhancement.  His line of wood cupped mouthpieces included only the densest of exotic hardwoods...ie: Olive, Rosewood, Cocobolo, and Ebony.  They produce a warm tone more suitable for solo/ chamber work.  I find they lose a little on the top end, but their warmth and smooth sonority make them very interesting when used to play certain music styles.
