    Description

This auction is offering Ten Breslmair Modular Rotary Trumpet Mouthpiece Parts: G rim, S rim, G1 cup, G1S cup, two G2 cups, G4 cup, #1 shank, W1 shank and S shank, all brass in silver plate.
When I received my Lechner C rotary trumpet sometime back, a set of Breslmair modular mouthpiece parts were also sent for me to try. This set included all five of the basic cup sizes, G1-G5 (deep to shallow), and a very good representation, if not quite a complete set, of their rim and shank options. After a trial, I narrowed it down to a G rim, a G1 cup and a #1 shank. This combination Breslmair calls their G1 model mouthpiece, and is, I have heard, either their most popular or one of their most popular models, though many players choose other pieces too, of course. Later when I purchased a used Lechner Bb rotary trumpet, I found this mouthpiece worked well with it also. Then after a few years passed I decided I wanted to see if the common, unintended variations involved in the manufacturing process might work to my advantage, and maybe I would be able to find a mouthpiece that worked even better than my G1. So I ordered up three more G1 mouthpieces. This was a set of Breslmair's one-piece mouthpieces. Unfortunately, none in this group seemed to play as well for me as my original mouthpiece, and I have passed them on to other players by now. Recently, I decided to try again and was pleased to find several players with modular Breslmair mouthpiece parts for sale. So I have come into possession of ten more pieces. And, unlike my original trial with my Lechner C, all of this latest group of parts were ones commonly used on the larger C and Bb trumpets. In this group I was happy and fortunate to find five more pieces - one rim, two cups, and 2 shanks - that in combination with the pieces I already had make for three more mouthpiece combinations that I may make use of in my playing.
So, now in this auction I am offering the remaining pieces from my recent mouthpiece search, plus five pieces from my original trial group that I had kept when I got the C trumpet, but either didn't end up making use of over this time or no longer need. The ten modular parts listed above are, most of them, for another player who is looking to find a better mouthpiece for their C or Bb rotary trumpet(s). Only the G4 cup and S shank are more for piccolo trumpet or lead playing. I used the G4 cup and S shank option for piccolo trumpet playing on Scherzer A/Bb and Ganter high G piccolo trumpets. I have sold both of those trumpet by now, and so don't need those pieces. There is information online at Breslmair's website regarding most of these items for those who want descriptions and specifications.
Breslmair mouthpieces have a good reputation for matching well with Lechner trumpets in particular. They may not be, though, as good a match for the larger bore Monke rotary trumpets, for instance, as I have read on forums and can confirm from my own personal experience with a Monke rotary Bb. Also, I hear Breslmair mouthpieces are not as widely used in Germany as they are in Austria where they are made. It makes sense that they would be best suited to the rotary trumpets used there in the Vienna, Austria area, where Lecher C trumpets are used in the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. But mouthpieces are a personal choice, so I wouldn't want to try to set expectations too narrowly for those who want to experiment.
Please note, this auction is offered as a sale, rather than a mouthpiece trial. I don't know of any dealer who offers a Breslmair mouthpiece trial with a return option in the US. The winner of this auction may later choose to pass some of these pieces on to others as I am doing here. With these high quality, European-made items, I think that is what players like myself, living in the middle of US do. Also, the threads are not compatible with Bach threads, nor do I know whether they may be with any other manufacturer.
Please feel free to ask any questions. These mouthpiece parts will be boiled before shipment.
